Who is Nicholas Chédeville?

Many of us know, or at least heard of Antonio Vivaldi – the guy who composed “The Four Seasons”, and many violin pieces. He was an Italian composer and violinist. He was famous not just from composing for violins, but also for many instrumental concertos, sacred choral, and operas.
At least since 1950s, musicologists were starting to doubt its authenticity, but nothing was proven conclusively until 1989.
Il pasto fido Sonatas; written for musette (or vielle, recorder, flute, oboe, violin), and continuo – was known as Vivaldi’s Sonata op.13, RV 54-59 for hundreds of years. Thought to be written to perform in Italian Baroque style.
Today, we rediscovered this music to be by Chédeville, to be performed in French Baroque style, intended to be for musette!

Nicolas Chédeville, a French composer and Musette player… wasn’t even ever around Vivaldi himself;
He made a secret agreement, in 1737 with his cousin to publish a collection of his own compositions as Vivaldi's, supplied and received money by himself.
We can’t be certain if Vivaldi had ever known about this, as there has been no record of him complaining nor being aware of this fraud.

หลายๆ คน ครูแนทเองเชื่อว่าเคยได้ยินชื่อ Antonio Vivaldi แน่นอนค่ะ เจ้าของเพลง The Four Seasons ที่ทุกๆคนต้องเคยได้ยินผ่านหูเป็นอย่างน้อย
คุณเขาเป็นนักประพันธ์ดนตรี และนักไวโอลินชาวอิตาเลียนจากเมื่อสมัย 300 กว่าปีที่แล้วค่ะ
เพลง 𝑰𝒍 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒅𝒐 𝑺𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒔 แต่งเพื่อเครื่องดนตรี musette (หน้าตาคล้ายๆ bagpipe เลยค่ะ)
เป็นร้อยปี ทุกคนรู้จักเพลงนี้ในนาม 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗼𝗽.𝟭𝟯, 𝗥𝗩 𝟱𝟰-𝟱𝟵 แต่งโดย Vivaldi แต่จริงๆ แล้วคุณ Vivaldi ไม่ได้แต่ง และไม่ได้รู้เรื่องอะไรด้วยเลย เพราะว่าเพลงนี้ จริงๆ แล้วแต่งโดย Chédeville นักประพันธ์ชาวฝรั่งเศสค่ะ
ในปี ค.ศ. 1737 Nicholas Chédeville แอบดีลกับญาติตัวเอง ให้ตีพิมพ์ผลงานเพลงตัวเองในนามของ Vivaldi
นักวิจัยในหลายร้อยปีต่อมาค้นพบหลักฐาน และเราเชื่อกันว่า เพราะว่า Vivaldi ดังตั้งแต่ในยุคสมัยของเขาเองแล้วค่ะ
เงินลงทุน Chedeville เป็นคนหา และเป็นคนที่ได้รับเงินทั้งหมด
เราไม่มีหลักฐานเลยค่ะ ว่า Vivaldi รู้มั้ยว่าโดนแอบอ้าง ส่วนแบ่งเงินพี่แกก็ไม่ได้
จากเมื่อวันเสาร์ต้นเดือนที่ผ่านมานี้ คอนเสิร์ตแรกของสตูดิโอ Afternoon Baroque Concert เรียนดนตรี เรียนไวโอลินฝั่งธนบุรี คุณ Tomo Kida ได้เล่าถึงเรื่องนี้ และโชว์ท่อนแรกของ Sonata นี้โดยใช้ Bagpipe ค่ะ 🥰
